With the continued and very intense time commitment that I have discovered is necessary to get "the store" up and running (so far, 5 photo shoots, 1 trip to the libray for small business books, surrendering 95% of my apt floor area to many many boxes, hours of internet research on how other online commerce sites are organized and function – and I thought this thing would take 2 weeks to produce - ha!), I wonder...why am I doing this?
But I know the answer: because it's something that I would love to be able to do every day, all day.
FRIDAY MEDAL ROUND: What are your 3 dream jobs in order (gold, silver, bronze) and why aren't
you doing them?
BLOGORELLI SAYS:
Gold= The Store (as an actual physical place would be ideal)
Silver= Buyer/Merchandiser for an eclectic chain of stores that included travel
Bronze= Esthetician (because, as my college roommate once said, "I want to give the world a makeover.")
WHY AM I NOT DOING THESE JOBS? Sadly, money and time...and reality – the threat of legal repurcussions – forces me to work for "the man" (my boss, who is actually a man and a great employer) to pay the bills.

Great article for all those "why nots"

Bronze: Baker
The feel of the dough, the craftsmanship, the left-overs.Why not?I'm a night owl, and the 5 am start would knock me out.
Silver: Lighthouse Keeper
Isolated on a maritime coast, the calming sound and sight of the water, the haunting foghorn noise. Why not? Aren't lighthouse automated now?
Gold: Professor of Cultural Anthropology
Travel the world, immerse myself in a culture as an observer, sum it all up in kickass lectures taught at a sprawling university campus where I could roam and read, intellectualize and live. Why not? Because 5 years in grad school studying science at MIT was enough and I don't want to educationally "start over"...yet.

great Q, blogorelli!
Au: furniture designer, carpenter and craftsman. This is in my blood and consumes my dreams each and every night.
Ag: Architect that designs like he gives a damn, a la Cameron Sinclair and his magnum opus; http://www.architectureforhumanity.org/
Cu/Sn: Corolary to Au: Once I get good enough, I'd love to operate a shop/apprenticeship program like this guy does: http://www.lf.org/bhai2000/bhai.html
Excuses: I haven't the private capital, guts or experience to do any of these things well...yet.

gold: some sort of theatre... and eventually a director. theatre bc I'm an attention-whore (aka middle-child) who loves to sing and dance; director because i am one bossy sonuvabitch. ;)
not doing it... because I like my regular paychecks
silver: gotta go with travel writer (so I can hire my pal cho as a photographer to come with). just anything with a shit load of traveling but actually being able to enjoy it rather than spending all the sunny hours in conference rooms. not doing it: a. bc my overachieving sister became the writer in my family and I didn't want to follow that shit. and b. because i have become addicted with typing in only lowercase.
bronze: part-time graphic designer. I'm friggin lovin my job right now and my cool projects and all this traveling. but, holey moley, i need some sleep. or a real weekend. ;)
not doing it because: i like money and so does my landlord

I gotta second the product tester. People sending me free gadgets fresh of the pages of engadget, and getting to give people my opinions about them - that would be an amazing job. Hadn't thought about that.
