Apple's introduction on Wednesday of their newest sweet, sweet babies to the world (39% speed jump!) got me thinking about my computers of past and present, and realizing that they have all possesed names. I am just of the opinion that inanimate objects perform better when personified by a given moniker.
My car has a name (Vinny,) my bike has a name (Alexander,) why, I spent a weekend trying to restore an authenticate shag rug from 1971 and even IT had a name (Henry. Sadly, the rug expired into a pile of creamish fluff following an industrial washing and brushing.) The Professor proved my point when his Mac tower -- unnamed! -- refused to acknowledge his existence earlier this week.
FRIDAY MEDAL ROUND: List the names of your past three computers (or machines/gadgets of choice)
BLOGORELLI
Gold - Johnny Five (current eMac)
Silver - GusGus (past G3)
Bronze - TomJones (tower at my last job)
I've also computed on ElvisAaron and Georgia (after O'Keefe, although I didn't appoint that name.) Now I work on a computer with my own first name...which makes me feel eerily guilt-ridden when something big goes technically berserk.

My tower is "my monkey"
The husband's shuffle is "aaron's gimmelschtaab"
I'm tapped out, that's all she wrote.

I really don't name any of my gadgets. I don't even name my car anymore.
Although in high school I had the "Golden Nugget" ('89 Escort) and my brother had "the Ghetto Sled" ('89ish Taurus).
Sorry, I'm no fun. :(

g: old titanium powerbook: "spot" bc I got 10% off since it had one teeny dead pixel in the lower lefthand corner
s: current new powerbook: "hottie harddrive" bc after a week of trying to figure out what I wanted to name the man in my life, I decided if I was going to make the computer a male, it should be a hottie
b: old computer at work (that was stolen this summer with all of our other computers): "elsie" bc I'm the "dairy queen"
runner-up 1: my new computer at work post-breakin: "worm-man". named by a coworker from a play on my last name... you should see the cute little icon he gave me.
