Today is a momentous occasion. Not only does winter officially start at 7:22 p.m. EST, but a mere hour before that, I begin my first SOLO babysitting gig for Lincoln Olav!
The Butterbean is developing new skillz every day. He can now sit up (albeit with the slight sway of a vertigo sufferer,) roll over, and even occasionally sucks his left thumb for...comfort? entertainment? As a fellow thumbsucking alumni, I can attest that the reasons to engage are much too numerous to list. However, since I know that a cute oral metacarpal fixation could turn into six years of intense orthodonic treatment, here's to hoping he outgrows just this one developmental 'achievement.'
I am very much looking forward to Linc and I's time tonight, and also the other things that I get to do as the "babysitter". These important activities include using the Inter-net after the baby falls asleep, eating special "babysitter food" that Cho purchased (fresh pasta+sauce,) and the savior of in-home child care providers the world over: free laundry.
Yea, BABY!
Oh, and Cho, don't worry -- if we rappell down the side of the house for any reason, I'll be sure to put the baby in his Bjørn and call you afterwards. Hell, I might even clean out the gutters while we're up there.
(Note: In researching this post, I found out that the film industry is planning to remake 'Adventures in Babysitting' to release 2008. To which I (and every othe child of the 1980s) asks in horror, "Why"? The movie was a novelty at best the first time, and not a great of a novelty at that.)
