Hang in there Blogorelli! You can do it.

Glad your Asheville experience is picking up. My parents live outside town on a once-remote farm; the way Asheville's suburbs are pushing out it won't be remote for much longer.

Most of the interesting stuff in Asheville is right around the downtown core, from an urban, shopping, dining, music perspective. The Orange Peel is an interesting club -- the Smashing Pumpkins did a residency there this year before kicking off their reunion tour. You should probably check out Old Europe, a little Austrian-influenced pastry and drinks cafe. And the bookstores shouldn't be missed.

The Biltmore House is a pricey attraction, but if you like wandering around the US's largest private house and its grounds it's totally worth the trip.

Beyond that, you have to get out of Asheville and into the mountains--the Blue Ridge Parkway and Chimney Rock are tops on the list. And make sure to check out some of the local eateries--I can particularly recommend the Moose Cafe, on Brevard Rd near the Farmers Market south of the city center. Well worth the trip.
