Snowy Days and Soupy Nights
We never managed to test drive a SmartCar this weekend, but we did throw a successful Soup Swap (in my humble hosting opinion.) Over twenty people ventured out in the freezing cold weather and 15 of them brought soup to exchange. Some of the offerings:
Chicken Noodle (two varieties!)
Strawberry Soup
Split Pea
Butternut Squash (also two varieties!)
Corn and Tomato Bisque
Potato + Leek Irish Stew (there is an actual name for this one...help me out, P. Natty or Lil K)
African Peanut
Black Eyed Pea, Corn and Sweet Potato
etc...
The Prof is collecting the recipes on his blog, and I'll post a link when the collection is complete. So far we've eaten soup for the past two nights (corn and tomato bisque sunday, one of the chicken noodle monday, and the strawberry for dessert) and they've all been delish. Here are a few pics:
I found some old notes researching bento (A bento is traditionally made in a 4:3:2:1 ratio... 4 parts of rice, 3 parts of the main dish [either meat or fish], 2 parts of vegetables, and 1 part of a serving of pickled vegetables or a dessert) and furoshiki for a post, so I maybe went a little overboard with my packaging...
Here we go...
"Pick me! Pick me!"...
We had two young sirs present; they were not blown away by the soup but they did love their toothbrush presents...
The next morning, we woke up and saw flakes falling outside. Snow day!!! The Prof surprised me with breakfast in bed and we decided to spend most of the day lazily shopping...first for a cell phone (him), next for size 14 shoes (him), and finally, something for both of us:
A COUCH!

LK and I made Colcannon Soup.
I hope folks enjoy it.
We started with Chicken Noodle this year (which was great, again). Next up: Split Pea!
Thanks for hosting again this year.

We're also looking for a new couch! Can you provide me with the info on how you chose and is this from Crate & Barrel or somewhere else? Thanks!

OMG! That is the *exact* couch the Hungarian wants to purchase for us. I'm still not sold...you'll have to provide a full review. Looks like the swap was a success! :)
