Ok, actually, on Sunday, but this (Tuesday night) is the first time I've had the motivation or wifi access to report on the trip to PA. We had a great time, and got lots of wedding "stuff" resolved. Mom-orelli thinks that I'll change my mind on everything two more times, while The Prof put in $10 double-or-nothing for four times.
Although I felt totally overwhelmed at times during our visit, and especially when my mom took me to Babe's Broadway Bridal Boutique to try on dresses (oh yes we did,) the trip was wonderful in a way one can only appreciate in retrospect.
I've had a lot of apprehension about inviting our friends and family to my little corner of the world for our wedding, mostly because I'm scared of what people will think of rural western PA. Silly, I know, but reading about all the weddings out there, most ridiculously lavish, maybe makes a gal insecure? After a phone conversation with The Polish Princess last night, though, my perspective is somewhat corrected and I realize what 9/19/09 is really about: The Prof and I making "Murforelli" official, and celebration with those we love. When I look at everything based on that criteria, can't imagine a more appropriate place to start my life...again.
Some highlights...
(Rental options, meeting little man Kaeden, maybe 'the' church, dresses, lanterns for in the tent, a place for our guests, my cake had 16 candles -- 2 per year and one to 'grow on.')
What makes home so sweet, three generations of Hadel women.
And despite my worst fears, I don't think our nuptial celebration will be like this photo that came up in a Google image search for "fall wedding"...or maybe we'd all have more fun at the reception if it did?!?

happy belated birthday! 31 is going to be a great year for you. i'm excited about turning 31 already. 30 is overrated and it feels good to be "in the thirties." anyway, congrats. and babe's broadway bridal boutique is awesome and totally reminds me of "pepi's pizza and bridal," where i, no joke, found my wedding dress in CNY for only $175 because it was on sale and it fit me off the rack. i was totally embarrassed to go in there with my mom and didn't ever think i would get my dress there, but i did. and it was fab. and as for traveling to your neck of the woods for your wedding, we are utterly excited and couldn't think of a better place to have it. it is not an embarrassment; it's where you're from and makes you who you are today. it will be beautiful. i was rooting for PA all along and i'm so glad you decided to do it! i think having part of it at your dad's restaurant will be awesome! can't wait already!
